Virtual Server Environment Migrating to Nutanix

Summary

This article contains completion information about the virtual server migration.

Body

Details

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) will be migrating the current Virtual Server environment from VMware to Nutanix starting mid-October 2022.

What is Nutanix?

Nutanix is a Hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) solution that consolidates compute, memory, and storage into appliances that you can run virtual machines (VMs) on. This will greatly benefit UTD in data center cost savings by scaling down rack space, cooling, and power. Nutanix will also allow for UTD to move virtual workloads to and from on prem and the cloud. The migration process is a simple and just requires a reboot of the VM once migrated to Nutanix. Before migrating any workloads, OIT will contact the system/data owners and schedule a time and date for migrating their VMs.

Should you have any questions, need more information or any assistance, please contact the OIT Service Desk.
