Callier - Mobile Device Management

Summary

Informational overview of how Mobile Device Management will be implemented for Callier.

Body

Overview

The information Security Office (ISO) and Office of Information Technology (OIT) are working with Callier leadership to improve how we protect patient data on mobile devices. We are implementing a tool called Microsoft Intune. This is a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution that will keep confidential information secure while having little impact on your personal data.

How to Get Started

  • OIT will add you to a security group and give you an InTune license.
  • Click this link to see how to set up InTune on an Android phone.
  • Click this link to see how to set up InTune on an iPhone.

What Will be Bifferent

  • You will need to use the Microsoft Outlook app for UTD work email instead of your phone's regular email app or a third-party email app from the app store.
  • You may need to log into your UTD Microsoft accounts again after InTune is set up.
  • You will be asked to use multi-factor authentication to access UTD Microsoft applications like Outlook and Teams. This could be a PIN, fingerprint, or face scan.
  • You will need to re-authenticate every 60 minutes.

What Sill Stay the Same

  • Your personal data on your phone will not be affected.
  • Your personal Microsoft accounts will stay the same.

New Feature

If needed, we can remotely remove UTD work data from your phone without touching your personal files.

End Remarks

These controls have already been carefully tested by ISO, OIT, and Callier to make sure they are safe and easy to use. The ISO and Callier are interested in protecting patient data and are not interested in monitoring employees or their personal data. InTune allows ISO to isolate protections of University data on personal devices. If you have questions or are having issues, please contact ISO using this email: infosecurity@utdallas.edu
