Microsoft 365 Changes

30 Days

  • June 11, 2026 - Copilot Notebooks is a new feature in Microsoft OneNote.  Copilot Notebooks are AI-powered workspaces designed to gather and selectively ground on the references in the notebook, using Copilot to answer questions or create context-aware content.  OneNote notebooks focus on collecting and organizing notes, ink, and other information that you can share with others. They serve as long-term knowledge repositories.  Copilot Notebooks is available to Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Chat licensed users.
  • June 2026 - Microsoft will be retiring the Together Mode meeting view in Microsoft Teams. The Teams gallery is the default meeting view across Teams clients and will remain the primary multi-participant layout for meetings.
  • June 2026 - Microsoft Teams will standardize the preview experience for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files across desktop and mobile, improving speed and reliability. PowerPoint and Excel previews are on iOS and Android; Word preview is iOS only (Android later).
  • June 2026 - Classic Outlook will feature user-initiated Copilot insights. Users can manually select text and ask Copilot to help provide relevant information.

60 Days

  • May 13, 2026 - Microsoft Planner is now integrated with Outlook (web and new Windows version) and Copilot app. This allows users to view and manage tasks and plans through the "To-Do" icon while using their Outlook email, calendar, and Copilot experiences.
  • April 15, 2026 - Microsoft will no longer include Copilot Chat (basic) in Microsoft Office, Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint apps.  Previously, Copilot Chat appeared either through a side pop-out window or as an icon on the toolbar. This change affects both online and desktop versions of these applications. Copilot Chat in Microsoft 365 Apps is only available with a paid M365 Copilot License. 
  • April 14, 2026 - Microsoft Teams App bar will be simplified to create a cleaner and more focused experience, reduce clutter, and improve navigation. Users can show/hide this app bar with shortcuts (Ctrl + \ on Windows and CMD + \ on Mac).
  • April 1, 2026 - Town Hall and Webinar features have moved from Teams Premium to Teams Enterprise. This change includes:
    • Reactions and chat in events
    • Real‑time analytics
    • Branded emails
    • Enterprise CDN support
    • Attendee limits increased (up to 3,000 interactive)

90 Days

  • February 2026- Planner legacy features removed as part of the roll out of the new Planner experience in Microsoft Teams and Planner on the web.
