Overview

PubSSH (Public SSH) is a public (Internet) facing terminal/bastion server that allows access to UTD Linux resources without the GlobalProtect VPN. PubSSH is functionally very similar to Giant, allowing users to manage their personal web page, transfer files, etc. Users may use SSH and SFTP clients to interact with PubSSH.

PubSSH may be particularly useful on systems where the GlobalProtect VPN is not supported, or systems in which no GUI is available. Since PubSSH serves as a gateway to the UTD network and systems, you can use it connect to other systems that are not exposed to the internet, such as other Linux servers.

How to Connect

  1. Open an SSH Client:
  2. Connect to pubssh.utdallas.edu.
  3. When prompted, enter your UTD NetID and/or password.
  4. Select an option for Duo multi-factor authentication.
Important: Duo must be configured before connecting to PubSSH.

The Duo prompt will be called “UT Dallas SSH”.
  1. Use PubSSH to manage UTD Linux resources or connect to other systems

Terminal: Connecting to PubSSH
