Restoring Documents in OneDrive

View Version History 

You can view the version history of Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel workbooks in their respective applications.

  • Login to OneDrive (web version).
  • Click My files to find the document of your choice.

My files is listed as the second option under the user's name.

  • Select Show Actions icon (...) or right-click on the File you would like to see the version history for.
  • At the bottom of the drop-down menu, select Version History.

  • A menu will appear with the previous versions of the selected document.

  • Select Show Actions icon (...) or right-click on the version you would like to restore.
  • Click on Restore.
    • Select Ok if you receive a confirmation message.

Restore Deleted Files/ Folders

OneDrive Website

Note: Files are recoverable in OneDrive for up to 30 days. After this time, they are not recoverable by UTD or Microsoft.
  • Login to OneDrive.
  • Select  Recycle Bin from the panel options.

  • Click or right-click on the you would like to restore and select Restore from the top banner.

OneDrive Computer

Note: If you deleted the files or folders from your OneDrive, check your Recycle Bin (Windows) or Trash (Mac) to see if your files are there. Deleted online-only files will not appear in your computer's Recycle Bin or Trash.

Windows

  • Open  File Explorer and search for Recycle Bin.
  • Select and right-click on the File or Folders you want to recover, and select Restore.
    • The file or folder will be restored to its original folder.

macOS

  • Open Trash on your device.
  • Select the files or folders you want to recover, then right-click > Put back.
    • The file or folder will be restored to its original folder.
