Connecting to CometNet (Linux)

This article shows specific steps for connecting to the CometNet wireless network from a computer running Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. However, these steps may be easily adapted for most modern Linux distributions.

Note: For specific steps on connecting to a WPA2 Enterprise secured network on another distribution, please refer to the applicable documentation.
  • Open Wi-Fi Settings.
  • Select CometNet (or CometNet_Legacy).

  • Enter the Network Settings as outlined in this article (and noted below).
    • EAP methodPEAP
    • (If asked) Phase 2 authenticationMSCHAPV2
    • CA certificateUse system certificates
    • (If asked) Online Certificate StatusDo not verify
    • Domainutdallas.edu or CAMPUS
    • Identity or Username: Your NetID
      • If you face issues connecting with your NetID, please use your NetID@utdallas.edu.
    • PasswordYour NetID password
