How to get Microsoft Teams logs for Troubleshooting?

Answer

There are two types of logs that will be needed for troubleshooting, one is called a Media log and the other is called a Debug log. It is important to collect logs as soon as an issue occurs. The logs can be collected with just a couple of clicks.

Collecting Debug Logs

  • For Windows: Right-click on the Teams icon in the system tray and choose "Collect support files".

  • For Mac: Mac: Select the Help menu and choose "Collect support files".

  • For Windows, You should see a notification that says, “2 file was downloaded”. The file should now be in your Downloads folder

  • For Mac users, you should see a notification that says, "2 files were downloaded". The file should now be in your Downloads Folder.

  • You should see a folder called “MSTeams Diagnostics Log”. Right click that folder and go to the send to option and click compressed(zipped) folder.
    • You should now see another folder with the same name appear just above it.

  • Send the zipped MS Teams Support Log folder to the Help desk agent by attaching the file to the ticket or sending it via email.
