Purpose
Outlook will automatically store the email addresses you have already sent an email to for future faster emailing. Occasionally, Outlook will store a mistyped address in its auto-complete list. Use the steps below to remove mistyped addresses from the auto-complete.
Remove a Single Entry
- Open Outlook.
- Start a New email.
- Type the first few characters of the entry you wish to remove.
- Once the auto-complete bubble appears with the misspelled entry, stop typing and click the X next to the entry in the bubble to remove it.
Clear the Entire Auto-Complete List
- Open Outlook.
- Select File > Options.
- Select Mail from the left panel on your screen.
- Scroll down to the Send Messages section in the right panel.
- Select Empty Auto-Complete List.
- Now, exit out of Options and go to the Send/Receive tab.
- Click on the Send/Receive Groups drop-down menu and select Define Send/Receive Groups, then select Edit....
- Select Address Book Settings.
- Check the box for Download changes since the last send/receive action and select OK to finish.
