Minutes to Hours Conversion
Atlas uses hours for all-time tracking. Work logged should be entered as hours and minutes, with 8 hours representing one typical work-day spent on a task. The list below can be used for reference for converting minutes to hours:

Most used time tracking categories, as well as their description, are listed below:
Note: When in doubt, apply the first categorization that seems reasonable. If necessary, time can be re-classified later.

Service Excellence
|
An activity designated by OIT management to this categorization that either:
- Makes the services UTD already provides more efficient, reliable, cost-effective, useful, etc.
- Makes UTD’s internal processes more efficient, reliable, cost-effective, etc.;
- Makes UTD’s services measurable, understandable, etc., for ROI determination
- Enables UTD to deliver a new service.
The owner of any activity given this classification must communicate its designation to other teams assisting with it.

|
An activity to either:
- Deliver an existing service to a party requesting it, or
- Sustain the ability to deliver such services

Outreach
|
An activity to deliver information, including, for example:
- Teaching/training/advising others.
- Evangelizing how UTD operates.
- Building collaborative relationships with industry, Higher Ed, government entities, etc.

Training/ Professional Development
|
An activity to acquire, by any mechanism, the knowledge/skills to get better at what we do and how we do it. This includes technical training, leadership training, and processing training.

Absence
|
Not working when, under “normal” conditions, one would be working.

Admin
|
Any other activity.
Meeting- Group or 1x1 meeting with either internal UTD members or external guests.
