If you find that you need to free up some space in your Outlook inbox, try deleting emails in your Junk email folder. Junk emails count towards your total storage space while in your junk mail folder.

Procedure

  1. Open the Outlook Desktop App.
    • If you find that you have more than 500 emails in your Junk email folder, you will need to open the Outlook Web version instead. This will make sure that you have access to all emails.

  1. Find the Junk Email folder in the list.

  1. Right click the Junk Email folder and select Empty Folder.

  1. You will get a prompt that says “Everything in the 'Junk Email' folder will be permanently deleted. Continue?” Click Yes.
    • This step may take a few minutes depending on how many emails are in the folder.
