Purpose
This article contains information on how users can delay the delivery of an individual email in outlooks desktop version. Microsoft Outlook allows you to time the delivery of your emails. You can delay the delivery of an individual email for a certain amount of time, even after you hit the Send button.
Note: This feature is available only on Outlook for Windows. The steps mentioned here would not work on Outlooks web version.
Procedure
- Start composing a new email by clicking the New Email icon.
- Once you click the New Email icon, a separate window will appear where you can begin composing your email.
- From the Messages tab, locate the Tags section, as highlighted in the image below.
- Click on the Message Options icon on the bottom right of the Tags section.
- A separate Properties screen appears once you click on the Message Options section.
- Under Delivery Options, tick the check box stating, Do not deliver before. Then, set the date and time as per your convenience and hit Close.
-
Compose your email as you would and hit the Send button. Your email would remain in the outbox folder until the date and time set by you. Outlook will automatically deliver the email to the recipients as per the set schedule.
Note: To undo, open the email from the Outbox folder, un-tick the Do not deliver before check box and hit Close. Click on the Send icon once the dialogue box closes.
