PowerPoint Live Feature

Introduction

Before the PowerPoint Live feature was introduced, collaborating in a Teams Meeting while a PowerPoint presentation was going on was impossible. The standard screen share feature required the presenter to switch between the presentation in PowerPoint and the Teams application just to engage with their audience. Using PowerPoint Live, presenters can now monitor the chat box, check for audience reactions and see participant videos while controlling their presentation.

Procedure

As a presenter, you can share your PowerPoint presentation using the PowerPoint Live Feature through teams or the PowerPoint application (Web and Windows version).

1. In an ongoing Teams meeting, select Share and choose the file you want to present under the PowerPoint Live section.
   • If you do not see the file you want to show, click on Browse OneDrive or Browse my computer to locate the file from your OneDrive or local files.

2. You can also share the deck directly through PowerPoint’s web or Windows version.
   • On the windows version, click on Present in Teams.

• PowerPoint will redirect you to Microsoft Teams, where you must grant permission to present the deck.

• Once granted, your slides will appear in the Teams meeting.
• On the web version, open the presentation you want to share. Click on the drop down next to Present and select the Present in Teams option.

Advantages for Presenters

• You can see audience reactions and chats while presenting the deck, which helps in facilitating real-time interactions. If you share your screen the traditional way, you will have to keep switching between PowerPoint and Teams, thus breaking the flow of the presentation.
• Decide if you want to have your video as a Standout or Cameo by changing the Layout of your presentation.
• Tools like Laser Pointer, Pen, Highlighter, and eraser are available and could be used to stress important points in your presentation.
• By default, the audience can shift through the presentation slides. You can disable Private View if you don’t want the audience to navigate the slides independently.

Advantages for Audience

• You can navigate back to a different slide to check on any information you have missed or go ahead to have a look at upcoming slides. You can select the Sync to Presenter option to return to the presented slide.
• You can click on any hyperlinks in real-time. You can also translate slides into another language and view slides in high contrast.
