- Open your preferred web browser.
- Navigate to utdvpn.utdallas.edu and enter your UT Dallas credentials to sign in.
- If you are not already authenticated through Duo, you will be asked to do so via a push notification, text message, or phone call.
- Visit Knowledge Base - Duo for more information on how to enroll in Duo.
- Once logged in, you will see multiple download options. If you do not know which version is correct for your device, follow the instructions below.
- Select the Start button > Settings > System > About. Under Device specifications > System type, you will see whether your device is 32 or 64 bit.
Important: If your device uses an ARM processor, you will
not use any of the download files below. You can determine if you have an ARM processor with the steps above; it will be listed as "64-bit operating system, ARM-based processor". In this case, please skip the next step and
download the installer for ARM devices.
- Select Download Windows 64-bit GlobalProtect agent or Download Windows 32 bit GlobalProtect agent, depending on your Windows version.
- After downloading the GlobalProtect Portal installer, you can save it to your Downloads folder or another preferred location.
- Open the GlobalProtect Portal MSI file and select Next.
- Select the folder you want GlobalProtect installed in (or use the default) and select Next as shown below.
- You will see the latest version of GlobalProtect installed on your system, as shown below.
- Choose Close once the installation is complete.
- Open the GlobalProtect VPN client on your machine, enter the Portal Address as
utdvpn.utdallas.edu
, and select Connect.
- The GlobalProtect VPN client icon can be populated on the bottom right side of your taskbar.
- If not located there, search for "GlobalProtect VPN" on your device.
- It will automatically open a web browser for you to sign in with your UTD NetID and password.
Note: Edge/Chrome/Firefox, any of them, could be your default browser. If you have Edge or Chrome, the screen would be similar.
- Authenticate using Duo via a push notification, text message, or phone call.
- Please check the "Always allow utdvpn.utdallas.edu" to open links of this type in the associated app and click Open GlobalProtect.
- GlobalProtect may take a few seconds to reach the connection.
- Open the GlobalProtect VPN app; it will display a “Connected” message informing that you are actively connected to the UT Dallas VPN, as shown below.
- If you have Firefox as your default browser, you must log in using your UTD credentials and authenticate via DUO.
- Check the "Always allow utdvpn.utdallas.edu" to open this type of links in the associated app.
- Also, check the box for "Always use this application to open globalprotectcallback links." Select Open Link.
- Now you will be connected to the VPN.
- Open the GlobalProtect VPN app; it will display a “Connected” message informing that you are actively connected to the UT Dallas VPN, as shown below.
Note: Do not select Enter on your keyboard device. Hitting
Enter after entering your username and SSO password will result in the Stale Request error message. Visit
