Using Remote Desktop (ChromeOS)

This article contains instructions on how to connect to a UTD computer that has been setup for Remote Desktop access, from a Chrome OS device.

Requirements

Off Campus Requirements 

If you are off campus, you will need to connect to the VPN before connecting remotely to your computer.

  • Sign up for Duo, if you have not already.
  • Connect to the VPN.

On Campus Requirements 

If you are on campus and have a wired connection or connected to CometNet, you will not need to connect to the VPN.

Connecting

  • Open Chrome
  • In the address bar at the top, enter remotedesktop.google.com/access, and press Enter.
  • Click Access to select which computer you want.
    • Select Set up remote access to set up a device for the first time. 
  • Enter the PIN required to access another computer.

Additional Method

  • Visit Google Play and search for "Remote Desktop- Microsoft Corporation."
  • Select the proper download and click Install.

  • Open the new app and click on the Plus sign icon (+) in the upper right hand corner, then select Desktop
  • Enter IP Address of the machine you would like to connect to.
  • Open newly created connect and enter credentials using domain (i.e.: campus\abc123456).
