Pre-requisites
- Go to Xming > Download > Install and run the program.
- Click Next on all the dialogue boxes until you have one with just the Finish option.

Note: Ensure the Xming icon is visible on the Windows Taskbar.
- Search "GlobalProtect" on the Windows Taskbar, and connect to the VPN, if not on a campus network.
- Download and run Putty.
Connecting
- Open PuTTY.
- Enter giant.utdallas.edu for the Host Name and ensure the Port is set to 22 and the connection type is SSH.

- Navigate to the X11 tab under Connection > SSH.
- Check the box next to "Enable X11 forwarding".
- Type localhost:0 as the ‘X display location,’ and ensure ‘Remote X11 authentication protocol’ is set to MIT-Magic-Cookie-1.

- Click Open to start the terminal. You can save your session settings from the Session tab and load it each time you want to connect.
- Log in with your NetID and password.
Note: Password will be tracked in silent keystrokes so that no text will appear in the Terminal.

- Type Matlab & and press Enter. MATLAB will open in the Xming application.
