Access MATLAB via SSH (macOS)

Summary

This article contains instructions to use when you need to access MATLAB remotely or on a computer where you do not have the application installed.

Body

Prerequisites

  • Download, install and run XQuartz.
    • The XQuartz icon should be visible on your Taskbar.

XQuart logo contains a black X with red circle surrounding the letter.

Note: If you're not on campus a campus network, make sure to connect to the VPN.

Connecting

Important: Replace "netID" above with your actual NetID.

Terminal log in page for SSH.

  • Log in with your password, and authenticate with DUO.
Note: Password will be tracked in silent keystrokes therefore no text will appear in Terminal.

         

  • Type matlab & and press Enter.
    • MATLAB will then open in the XQuartz application.
