Context
Starting on March 10 2024, UTD will enable an upgraded interface for Duo. The upgraded interface provides a new, streamlined authentication process, making two-step login a simpler experience. Though the new prompt will visually look different, Duo still supports a range of login options. Read below for additional details on the key changes coming to Duo.

What to Expect
The first time you use Duo Two-Step Login to authenticate on a given application, Duo will select the most secure method from any devices you have set in your account. You can use that method, or choose a different method through the new prompt's Other options link.
After that first authentication with the new prompt, Duo will by default use the method you used most recently. You can always click the Other options link and select a different method from those you have set up. Visit KA 4 to learn how to manage your devices in Duo.
Old vs New Prompt
Authentication Methods
Instead of the old prompt's device dropdown menu and green buttons, the new prompt's cleaner design shows your current prompt request.
To use a different method at the new prompt, click Other options to see the full list of authentication methods available to you.

Default Device and Action
Previously, the Manage Devices screen for the old Duo prompt included an option to select a Default Device and action to use whenever logging in with the device. With the new prompt, that feature has changed.
Duo now simply uses your most recent method. If you prefer to use a different method, just click Other options in the Duo prompt and select another method from the list.
Trust Browser Option
Instead of checking the old prompts "Remember me" box, the new prompt will ask "Is this your device?" after you complete the two-factor application approval on a new device or browser. If you click the Yes, this is my device, you will not be prompted for authentication from that browser for the next 30 days. If you select No, other people use this device, Duo will not ask you to remember that browser on that device for the next 14 days.
After you have used Yes, this is my device for the first time with a particular browser and device, a Remember me checkbox will appear directly in the prompt itself. If you wish for the device or browser to no longer be remembered, uncheck the Remember me box.
Supported Browsers
The new prompt supports Chrome (Desktop and Mobile), Firefox, Safari (Desktop and Mobile), Edge, and Internet Explorer. Chrome is recommended for the widest compatibility. Visit Duo's Two-Factor Authentication Guide to learn more.
SMS Passcode Batch
Previously, the old prompt sent an SMS with 10 codes when Text me new codes was selected. The new prompt will now generate and send an SMS message with a single passcode to enter for authentication.
Duo Mobile App
If you already use the Duo Mobile App version 4.0+ on your smartphone, the new prompt will not require you to change or upgrade.
Managing Devices
You can continue to add, remove, or configure the devices that you use with Two-Step Login. Visit Manage Devices on Duo Mobile for more information.
