Purpose
Use this article when an external user outside UTD needs a Guest Microsoft Teams account to present in a live event.
Procedure
Firstly, you will receive an email regarding that you have been added as a guest.
Open your email and click on
Open Microsoft Teams
.
A webpage will open that will take you through the process of creating your Microsoft account. Click
Next
.
Select
Enter the password of your choice here
and continue to the
Next
button.
To verify your email, open the "Verify your email address" mail you received from the Microsoft account team. Click on
Copy code from here
.
Enter the code in the given space and select
Next
.
Enter the characters shown and click
Next
.
Review the permission and select
Accept
.
Choose
Download the Windows app
button.
Select the downloaded file to start the installation process- Refer to this
article
to learn how to install teams on your device.
Enter your email address and click on
Sign-in
.
Enter your password and select
Sign in
.
Click
Continue
when asked to Join UT Dallas.
Read the instructions in the welcome section and select
Next
.
Go to your email, find the event invitation, and select the
Join live event/Join the meeting
link.
In the web browser, a pop-up window will appear asking to open it in the Microsoft teams application. Click on
Open Microsoft Teams
.
Joining the Event
Turn on your camera by sliding the
Radio button
next to the camera icon
Unmute your microphone by sliding the
Radio button
next to the microphone icon.
Click on the
Settings gear icon
and choose your audio options.
Select
Join now
when you’re ready.
You are now part of the Microsoft Live Event!
