Sharing an Email From Microsoft Outlook's Desktop Version to Microsoft Teams

Purpose

This article contains information on sharing an email to Microsoft Teams from Microsoft Outlook’s Desktop Version.

Procedure

  1. Launch Outlook’s Desktop version.
  2. Select the designated Email to share in Microsoft Teams.

Note: You need not open the email in a different window by double clicking on it.

  1. Select the More actions button appearing on the right-hand side of the reading panel off the selected email. Select the Share to Teams option from the list

  1. A Share to Microsoft Teams dialogue box will open where you can enter the name of the contact/group/channel you want to share your email with.
    • You can also type out a message which will be shared along with the email in teams if you want to add any extra information.
    • If your email contains an attachment that you want to share, tick the Includes Attachment check box.
    • Click on Share once the settings are as per your preferences.

 

Note: If the email you selected to share does not include an attachment, the ‘Include attachments’ section will be greyed out.
  1. You will get an email confirming that your email has been shared through teams.

 

  1. The recipient will get a preview of the message on Microsoft Teams along with the attachments.
    • A new chat will be created if this is your first time chatting with the recipient.
