Explanation
Several JSOM courses require students to access SAS or Stata software suites to complete assignments. This is accomplished via remote desktop connection to a server with these software suites pre-installed. These servers are managed and supported by JSOM Technology and Facilities Services.
Note: The servers are only available to JSOM staff, faculty, and students currently enrolled in courses requiring access to these software suites.
Connect to Remote Server
- Connect to CometNet, the campus wired network, or UTD VPN.
- Open Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection.
- Enter the full address of the server in the Computer field. (Ex: SMVSTAT01.campus.ad.utdallas.edu)
- Your instructor will provide the name of the server you should connect to.

- Click Connect.
- Enter CAMPUS\NetID as the username and your UTD password and select OK.
- You may have to click More choices > Use a Different Account on personal computers.
- You must specify "servername.campus.ad.utdallas.edu" on personal devices.
- "servername.utdallas.edu" will not work.
