Setting Up and Using the Netgear Nighthawk M6 Pro (MR6500 Model)

Your device will most likely be delivered without battery and sim card not pre-installed.  If that’s the case, follow the next steps.  If they are already installed, skip to the next section.

To install the battery and the sim card, follow the instruction on this webpage (or watch the video at the top of the webpage) to assemble the hotspot device.

Note:  We recommend using the battery mode and keeping the battery charged.  Should you need to use the device for extended time, please make sure you save the cable that comes with the device.  This cable is optimized to keep the device always on in the event of extended usage.

Setting Up the Device for First Use

Next we need to setup the device for the first time:

  1. Turn the device on by holding down the power button.
  2. Select Let’s Go on the screen.
  3. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)Next, we will customize the name of the wireless internet used to connect to the device and the password.  Feel free to leave it as default or click customize to change it.  You can always change this later if you wish.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. The next screen lets you create an admin password.  If you choose to set one up (recommended), it is critical that you memorize this password as it will be necessary for any troubleshooting we need to complete in the future.  You may leave the default admin password (not recommended), but there is a high probability that someone that knows what they’re doing, can login to your device.
  5. Next, you’ll setup the default stand-by time for the device before it automatically turns off.
  6. We’re almost there, now select Got it twice , to acknowledge all the settings.
  7. Finally select Go to my dashboard to complete the setup.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)

Connecting to the Hotspot

In this section we will start using the device to provide internet service to other devices.

When your mobile hotspot is powered on, it automatically searches and connects to the AT&T network.   You may need to move the device around your location to get the optimal speeds, AT&T recommends at least 2 bars of network signal.

When you turn on your device, you should see “wifi” name and Password for the device in a white box at top of the screen.  (See image below).  Use this information to connect other devices to your mobile hotspot.
