REDCap Exports, Reports, and Stats

Summary


The Data Exports, Reports and Stats menu allows you to easily view, save and analyze your data in a variety of different formats.

 

Reports


Reports allow users to create customizable summaries of data collected within a REDCap project. To create a new report:

  1. Click ‘Data Exports, Reports, and Stats’ on the left menu.

     
  2. Select ‘Create New Report’

     
  3. Fill in a name for the report and a description.


     
  4. Specify which users can have viewing and editing access to the report
    1. Click on ‘View user access list’ to see a comprehensive list of which users have access

       
  5. Select the fields you would like to include in the report.
    1. Click this icon to switch between a drop-down list of fields and a text box to type out a field.

       
    2. You can quickly add all fields from an instrument by using this dropdown.

       
    3. Use QuickAdd to easily select fields across instruments



       
    4. You can rearrange by dragging and dropping fields.

       
    5. You can delete fields by pressing the red X icon.

       
  6. You can add filters so only specific data will appear on the report.
    1. For example, if you only wanted a list of individuals who completed their consent form after a certain date, it would look like this:

       
  7. You can order your data based to fit your needs.
    1. For example, this will order the results from most recent to least recent:

       
  8. Click ‘Save Report’.
  9. Click on ‘View Report’.

     

Exports


Exporting all data

  1. Navigate to ‘Data Exports, Reports, and Stats’ on the left menu.


  2. To download data:
    1.  for the entire project, click on ‘Export Data’ in Row A.

       
    2. for a specific report, click on ‘Export Data’ next to the desired report.

       
  3. In the leftmost box, choose a format to download the data.
    • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The 'CSV/Microsoft Excel' download option to often a popular choice among users.
    • The 'CSV/Microsoft Excel (raw data)' will include field variable names as column headers where as 'CSV/Microsoft Excel (labels)' will include field labels as column headers.
  4. Use the second box to remove all data that might contain sensitive information.

     
  5. Click ‘Export Data’ in the bottom right corner.


     
  6. Click on this icon to download the data.

     

Stats


The Stats feature allows users to visualize their data in charts and graphs.

To view the stats of an entire project, click on the ‘Stats & Charts” icon in Row A.

To view the stats of a report, click on the ‘Stats & Charts” icon next to the desired report.
