Context
Internet of Things (IoT) devices, including most Smart Home equipment, require compatibility with the existing campus wireless network to connect.
Details
IoT devices are only supported on the campus network if they:
- Connect to CometNet (support WPA2-Enterprise connectivity)
- Connect to UTD-Guest (have a web browser and can accept the terms and register for guest wireless access)
Other devices are not supported. OIT is working to support more devices in the future. If you have questions, please open a ticket with the OIT Help Desk.
Note: IoT Cameras (including Ring Doorbells) are not supported. Please contact the UT Dallas Police Department if you would like cameras added to an area of campus. Installation costs will apply.
