Purpose

This article outlines the letter from Texas State Government related to TikTok access and defines the resulting impact on campus.

Applies To

TikTok usage on all devices belonging to UTD, including laptops, desktops, cell phones, tablets, and any other devices capable of Internet connectivity. In addition, TikTok is inaccessible on any device that is connected to a UTD network.

Policy

On 12/7/2022, Texas Governor Greb Abbot ordered all Texas state agencies to ban the use of TikTok on any government-issued devices. This measure is being implemented to preserve the safety and cybersecurity of Texans. In response to this letter, UT Dallas's Office of Information Technology has implemented multiple measures to remove access to TikTok on all UTD issued devices as well as on all UTD networks.
