In response to UT Dallas Audit Report No R2411, TEC 51.3525, Personal Webpages (https://personal.utdallas.edu/~Netid) are no longer provided by UT Dallas for Employees or Students. For those that currently have personal web pages for official University business, there are several options available as alternatives. See the list below for alternatives based on use cases and an FAQ with more details.

FAQ's
When will the current offering for Personal Webpages end?
- Current personal web pages will not be available past August 31st, 2025.
- If you have content on current personal web pages, it will need to be moved or deleted prior to that time.
I no longer need my page, can OIT delete it?
Will I be able to move my data?
- Yes, you may migrate your data prior to August 31st, 2025.
- To easily move your public_html content to a new folder, follow these steps:

Open a terminal window and map to giant.utdallas.edu

Type "mkdir [directory_name]" to create a new folder - [directory_name] should be whatever you want the folder to be named

Type "cd [directory_name]" to navigate to the new folder - [directory_name] should be whatever you named the new folder in the previous step.

Type "scp -r netid@pubssh:~/public_html ." to copy your public_html content to the new folder - netid@pubssh should be entered with your NetID

Select an 2FA option and finish the process by completing the authentication with Duo
Can OIT help me migrate data off my Personal Webpage?
- Please SSH or SFTP to giant.utdallas.edu to access your Personal Webpage files and transfer them to your preferred storage method.
- If you face any issues or need assistance, you may submit an Atlas ticket and OIT will provide a .zip file with your Personal Webpage content files.

How do I password protect a current page or folder?

If I want to have a non-UTD Personal Webpage, does OIT recommend any services?
- UT Dallas does not have any recommendations, however there are multiple service providers in the marketplace that offer web hosting services.
