What Is It?
Instructions for Biological Waste
- Containers, including sharps containers and Stericycle boxes, must be closed prior to pickup.
- Red biological bags need to be tied, prior to being placed in the Stericycle box.
- Containers must be clean and free of contamination.
- If the bag or container is leaking, it must be double-bagged to contain any free liquids, then put into a Stericycle box.
NOTE: Liquid biological wastes should not be collected in sharps containers or bags.

Faculty, staff, students who generate biological waste during performance of University business
