What Is It?

Instructions for Biological Waste

  1. Containers, including sharps containers and Stericycle boxes, must be closed prior to pickup.
  2. Red biological bags need to be tied, prior to being placed in the Stericycle box.
  3. Containers must be clean and free of contamination.
  4. If the bag or container is leaking, it must be double-bagged to contain any free liquids, then put into a Stericycle box.
Note: Liquid biological wastes should not be collected in sharps containers or bags.

Faculty, staff, students who generate biological waste during performance of University business
