What Is It?
The Office of Immigrant and Citizenship Services (OICS) has setup The Gift of Travel Fund as an initiative designed to cover the application costs for eligible students applying for their U.S. passports. A U.S. passport is an essential travel document that allows you to explore the world, connect with family, experience study abroad opportunities, and develop personal growth.

Who Is Eligible to Use It?
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a currently enrolled UTD student
- Be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. Citizen or qualifying U.S. non-citizen national
- Not currently have an adult U.S. Passport (If you’ve had a U.S. passport as a minor – age 15 years or younger – that is no longer active, we would consider you not having an adult passport)
- Be eligible to apply for a U.S. passport
- Complete all required application questions
How Much Scholarship/Aid Will I Receive?
Scholarships will be awarded for a total of $165 to cover the cost of an Adult Passport Book and the $35 execution Fee. Students will be responsible for any additional fees set by the acceptance facility of their choice and any additional fees set by the Department of State. Please note that if you owe any amount in your student account at the time you receive these funds, the amount you will receive in your bank account will be the remaining balance after deducting what is owed.
Scholarship/Aid Priorities
Priorities for consideration of nominated students include:
- First-time to receive an adult U.S. passport
- Demonstrated financial need
- Having never travelled outside the U.S. before with an interest in pursuing global opportunities.
