Bass - Printing Media in ATC

Purpose

This article will walk you through the process of printing media on the Edith O'Donnell Arts & Technology Building (ATC), Jonsson Building (JO), and Physics Building (PHY) common printers. All printers across the Bass School function in the same way, and any job sent to the Papercut print queue can be released at any of the printers.

Required Materials

Before printing, you will need the following:

  • An active Comet Card
  • Funds added to your card
    • This does not apply to faculty/staff added to the ATC print queue.

If you do not have a Comet Card, you can find instructions for getting one here: https://cometcard.utdallas.edu/getcard/

Sending Items to the Printer

There are two main methods for uploading your files for printing in the ATC building: Printing from a computer and printing directly from external media. Both options will allow users to modify the following:

  • Color: Black & white ($0.06) or color ($.025)
  • Sides: Single-sided or double-sided
  • Pages per side: 1 or 2
  • Number of Copies

By default, the printer will print onto letter paper (8.5 x 11). If you don't need specific customization for your prints as outlined above, you can use any method below. For customized prints, you will need to configure your print on a computer and select the Papercut printers.

If you would like to print but do not have the correct Papercut printers installed, you can either:

  1. Request the papercut printer drivers be installed on your UTD assigned device by contacting techresources@utdallas.edu.
  2. Use the Windows computers in the Open Lab (ATC 2.302) which have the printer drivers installed.

Printing a File from a Computer

All Faculty and Staff UTD assigned devices should come pre-configured with the Papercut print drivers installed.  If you do not have the print drivers, or are unsure, please contact techresources@utdallas.edu for assistance.  The computers in the Open Lab (ATC 2.302) can also send your files directly to the printers.

There are multiple ways to upload your files to the printer depending on which app you are using. Regardless of the method, you must set the destination of your print to either "Bass AHT Color Printing" or "Bass AHT BW Printing". If you do not see either option, please inform a lab tech at the service window in the lab.

If you need to customize your print with more specific settings, set these preferences using the "Printing Preferences" window below. Getting to this window will vary based on the app you're using and should appear like the following:
