Bass - Printing Media in ATC

Purpose

This article will walk you through the process of printing media in the Edith O'Donnell Arts & Technology Building (ATC). While two printers are in the building, only one is publicly accessible to all students, staff, and faculty. However, these instructions apply to both printers.

Required Materials

Before printing, you will need the following:

  • An active Comet Card
  • Funds added to your card
    • This does not apply to faculty/staff added to the ATC print queue.

If you do not have a Comet Card, you can find instructions for getting one here: https://cometcard.utdallas.edu/getcard/

For instructions on adding funds to your Comet Card: https://cometcard.utdallas.edu/cardfaq/#utdollars-open

Sending Items to the Printer

There are three main methods for uploading your files for printing in the ATC building: 1) CometPrint, 2) External Media, and 3) Computer Lab. Both options will allow users to modify the following:

  • Color: Black & white ($0.06) or color ($.025)
  • Sides: Single-sided or double-sided
  • Pages per side: 1 or 2
  • Number of Copies

By default, the printer will print onto letter paper (8.5 x 11). If you don't need specific customization for your prints as outlined above, you can use any method below. For customized prints, use the Uploading a File from the Open Lab method.

Uploading Your File from Comet Print

Comet Print is a print service used throughout campus. If you upload a file to Comet Print, you should be able to print from any printer on campus that uses Comet Print. There are multiple methods for printing using Comet Print, but this article will focus on using Comet Print for the ATC building.

  1. Navigate to the following link and log in with your NetID: https://cometprint.utdallas.edu/MyPrintCenter/

  2. Once you've logged in, you'll see the following screen:

    • Uploaded Image
  3. Click the Upload button in the upper left corner and navigate to your document on your device.

  4. Once the document has been uploaded, you can select it to modify the print options at the bottom center.

  5. With the document selected, select a printer in the bottom right corner.

    • 2nd Floor Printer: ATC-2.708-KM-1-Printer
    • 3rd Floor Printer (Staff/Faculty Only): ATC-3.4C2-KM-1-Printer
  6. Once a printer is selected, you can click Print.

    • If you're staff/faculty added to the Bass School print queue, you do not need to click print as the service will charge you. See the "Printing for Staff/Faculty" section below.

Uploading a File from the Open Lab

The computers in the Open Lab (ATC 2.302) can send your files directly to the printer.

There are multiple ways to upload your files to the printer depending on which app you are using. Regardless of the method, you must set the destination of your print to either "ATEC Print Center - Color" or "ATEC Print Center - BW". If you do not see either option, please inform a lab tech at the service window in the lab.

If you need to customize your print with more specific settings, set these preferences using the "Printing Preferences" window below. Getting to this window will vary based on the app you're using and should appear like the following:
