Reset Your NetID Password

Overview

The UT Dallas NetID user account is used to access online services and campus computer resources. The NetID Self-Service Portal allows users to set or reset their password for their NetID account without the need to contact the OIT Service Desk. See the section below for instructions on using the NetID Self-Service Portal.

Instructions

Note: All UTD Staff, Faculty, and students must set a new UTD security compliant password each year. You will receive emails notifications one month, one week, and one day before your password expires. Failure to update your password will force it to expire.

Reset Password

  • Click on Reset password on the next screen.

  • Enter your NetID in the text box > Continue

  • Select a method to confirm your identity.
    • Send code as text: Receive text with code to your mobile number on file.
    • Send code as voice message: Receive a call regarding your code your phone number on file.
    • Send an email: Receive code via personal email.
      • Email Subject: NetID Your Password Reset Security Code is ####
      • Email Sender: no-reply@sailpoint.com
    • Provide code sent by your Helpdesk: Enter a Service Desk provided code.

Options to select method to confirm identity.

  • Enter and confirm your new password > Change password.  
    • Password much be at least 12 characters and include 3 of the 4:
      • At least 1 numeric character
      • At least 1 special character
      • At least 1 uppercase letter
      • At least 1 lowercase letter
    • You'll be able to click on Change password once your new password meets the requirements.

  • You'll see a message (and receive an email) regarding your successful password change.
