Follow-Up Buttons are one-click shortcuts that let you run predefined instructions in a conversation. Instead of retyping common follow-up requests, you can create a button that appears automatically, ready to use.
Unlike regular Prompt Templates, Follow-Up Buttons streamline repetitive actions (e.g., summarizing or reformatting) and can be set to appear only when specific tags are present in a conversation. This makes them perfect for actions that are only relevant in specific contexts.
- Log in to CometAI.
- Create a Prompt Template
- On the right-hand panel, select + Prompt Template (Figure 1).

- Fill in the required fields:
- Name - A clear title for your template.
- Description - A short explanation of what it does.

- Prompt - The actual instructions for the follow-up button.

Optional: Add any Conversation Tags you would like the follow-up button to attach to conversations. You can add more than 1 tag by separating them through commas.
- Select Template Type
- At the bottom of the window, choose Follow-Up Button as the Template Type (Figure 2).

- Set Required Tags (Unique to Follow-Up Buttons)
- When you select Follow-Up Button, the Required Tags field will appear.
- Enter the tag(s) that must be present in a conversation for this button to show up. You can add multiple tags by separating them with commas.
- If this is empty, then it will pop up in all your conversations

Note: Previous step ensures your buttons are context-aware and only show up when they are relevant.
- Save the Button
- Give it a clear name so you can recognize it at a glance.
- Once saved, the button will appear below conversations that match the required tags.

You can assign the same Required Tag to multiple Follow-Up Buttons to create a contextual toolkit. For example, the oit-ne tag can be used to display a set of buttons for welcoming a new employee, creating a to-do list, and more.

- Use Tags Strategically: Group related workflows under a single tag so relevant buttons appear together.
- Keep Prompts Concise: Design follow-ups for targeted actions like "Summarize this content using bullet points" or "Convert to Markdown."
- Experiment with Combinations: Link Assistants and Follow-Up Buttons for powerful, multi-step workflows.
