CometPrint is the campus printing system that lets you print, copy, and scan securely from computer labs or your personal device. You can send print jobs from anywhere and release them when you’re ready at any PaperCut-enabled printer.
Cometprint is only available in the following areas:
- Bass School of Arts and Technology (AHT)
- Jindal School of Management (JSOM)
- McDermott Library (McDermott 2nd floor)
- OIT Computer Labs (FO1.206 & MC1.314)
- Techknowledgy Bar (SU 1st floor)
PaperCut MF allows web-based printing from personal laptops, phones, and tablets without installing printer drivers.
- Go to the campus print portal: https://cometprint.utdallas.edu/
- You must use VPN if outside of the campus wifi network.
- Log in using your NetID.

- Select Web Print from the menu.
- Click Submit a Job and choose the correct print queue for your needs.
- CometPrint 1-Sided BW Queue (virtual)
- CometPrint 1-Sided Color Queue (virtual)
- CometPrint 2-Sided BW Queue (virtual)
- CometPrint 2-Sided Color Queue (virtual)
- Choose the number of copies.
- Upload your file (PDF, Word, or image; see supported file types).
- Click Upload & Complete to send your document to the print queue.
- Your job will now appear under Jobs Pending Release.
- Visit an in-person location to release your job.
- Log into the computer using your NetID (username).
- The Cometprint printers will load in the background after login.
- The printers may take up to 3 minutes to appear after logging in.
- Open the document you want to print and choose File > Print.
- Select a printer, ensure you select the correct printer for your area.

- Adjust settings such as number of copies, single-sided or double-sided printing, and orientation.
- Use print preview before being charged for a print job.
- Click Print. Your job will be securely held in the PaperCut queue.
- Your print job will now be available for release at the nearest printer or print release station.
- You must have Comet Cash in your GET account to pay for prints. (If you are a student in JSOM you may have print credits that can only be used in JSOM.)
- Visit an in-person location to release your job.
- Go to a campus printer or multifunction device (MFD) that supports Cometprint printing (PaperCut MF).
- Swipe your Comet ID card to login.
- Select Print Release on the printer’s screen, or at a print release station near the printer.
- Choose the job(s) you want to print and press Print.
- To delete unwanted jobs, select them and choose the trash icon.
- Collect your printed documents.
- Always log out when done to prevent others from using your account.
You can view your remaining printing funds directly on the printer screen, through the CometPrint web portal or through the GET portal.
- Log in at: https://cometprint.utdallas.edu
- Click Summary to see your current balance and recent usage.

- Balance is the balance of your printing credits. This money can only be used for printing.
- Comet Cash Balance is the balance that is stored in your UTD Comet Cash account. This money can be used for printing, as well as other services across UTD.
- Add funds to your Comet Cash balance through the GET portal.
PaperCut MF also supports scanning and copying through campus MFDs:
- Select Scan to send files directly to your university email. Available in the McDermott Library.
- Select Copy to duplicate a document; default is one-sided auto color detection.
- Remember to log out after use to protect your account.
- File types supported: The following file types are allowed: Microsoft Excel xlam, xls, xlsb, xlsm, xlsx, xltm, xltx Microsoft PowerPoint pot, potm, potx, ppam, pps, ppsm, ppsx, ppt, pptm, pptx Microsoft Word doc, docm, docx, dot, dotm, dotx, rtf, txt PDF pdf Picture Files bmp, dib, gif, jfif, jif, jpe, jpeg, jpg, png, tif, tiff XPS xps.
- Retention time: Unreleased print jobs will expire after 36 hours for security.
- Costs: Typically $0.06 per page for B&W and $0.25 per side for color. Charging may be location specific. Total cost will be show on the printer or release station.
- Availability: Printers are accessible during the building’s operating hours.
