Request Single Sign-On for an Application or Service

Purpose

This article outlines the procedure for requesting SSO authentication for a new or existing application or service.

Details

Single Sign-On authentication allows UTD users to use the same username (their NetID) and password on all UTD services. It also provides a familiar and secure log-in environment, giving users peace of mind and reducing incidents. OIT strongly encourages the use of SSO on all services that support it.

  1. Navigate to the Single Sign-On service.
  2. Select the Request SSO for New Application or Service service offering.
  3. Complete the request with the following information:
    • Additional Contacts(individual that should be notified when the ticket is updated apart from the requestor)
    • Application Name
    • Third-Party Support (Y/N)
    • Details of Application and Request
    • Former Employee Access (Y/N)
    • Retiree Access (Y/N)
    • Notification list for the outage and planned maintenance
    • Application Entity ID
    • Metadata Source
    • Required attributes (Display Name, Email, NetID, etc.)
    • Attachment(documents if available regarding SSO / SAML / or Shibboleth integration, including a metadata file)
  4. Press Submit.

The request will then be routed to the OIT Dx IGA team(s) for approval and implementation.
