Overview
The UT Dallas NetID user account is used to access online services and campus compute resources. The NetID Self-Service Portal allows users to set or reset their password for their NetID account without the need to contact the OIT Helpdesk. See the section below for instructions on using the NetID Self-Service Portal.
All UTD Staff, Faculty, and students must set a new UTD security compliant password each year. You will receive emails notifications one month, one week, and one day before your password expires. Failure to update your password will force it to expire. Please refer to the section below for instructions on changing your password.
Reset Password / Set Up Account
- Click here to navigate to the NetID Self-Service Portal.
- Select Click here to reset your password OR for first-time account setup.

- Read the terms and click on Accept.
- Select Continue.

- Enter your NetID and select Next.

- Retrieve the security code from your personal email address (NOT your UTD email), enter the code, and select Next.
Note: In certain circumstances, the system will prompt you to enter your 10-digit UTD-ID and your date of birth (mm/dd/yyyy) instead of entering a security code.

- Select the Password Reset option and enter a new password. Ensure that your password complies with UTD policies, you have never used it before, and that it contains no easily guessable personal information.
- Select Next.

- Select Validate New Password to begin validating your password.

- A small window should appear at the top of your browser, as shown below. Enter your NetID and new password and select Sign In to validate that it has been changed correctly.

- For registering your personal email, select the Next button to continue.
Note: These steps are only needed to re-register your personal email or register a different personal email.

- Enter your new password and select Next.

- Enter a personal email address (NOT your UTD email) and then select Next.

- After that, you should receive this screen, and you can select Finish to complete the process.
