Connecting to CometNet (Linux)

Purpose

This article shows specific steps for connecting to the CometNet wireless network from a computer running Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. However, these steps may be easily adapted for most modern Linux distributions. For specific steps on connecting to a WPA2 Enterprise secured network on another distribution, please refer to the applicable documentation.

Connecting to CometNet 

  1. Open Wi-Fi Settings.
  2. Select CometNet or CometNet_Legacy.

    List of Wi-Fi options available in the network.
     
  3. Configure the connection settings as seen below:

  • Authentication: Protected EAP (PEAP)
  • Domain: utdallas.edu
  • Certificate Settings: No CA certificate is required
  • Inner Authentication: MSCHAPv2
  • Username: NetID
  • Password: Your Password
  1. Wait for the device to establish a connection.

    Screen that displays connected Wi-Fi.
Note: An "Anonymous identity" is not required. This field may be left blank.
