Install Mathematica on Personal Device (Students)

Context

Mathematica provides a single integrated, continually expanding system that covers the breadth and depth of technical computing. It is seamlessly available in the cloud through any web browser on all modern desktop systems. UT Dallas has a site license for Mathematica.

Note: Mathematica is available on computers in the OIT computer labs. To have Mathematica setup on a UTD-Owned computer, please contact the OIT Service Desk.

Request Mathematica

  • Access the Mathematica webpage, and select Click here to access Mathematica Student Edition.

  • Enter your NetID@utdallas.edu to check if your institution has access to products.
    • Check "I agree to the retention of my personal data explained in the Privacy Policy".
  • Select Continue.

  • Check on "I am a student" and click Continue.

  • Click on Get Mathematica Desktop.

  • Create a new account on Wolfram and fill in the relevant details on the form.
  • Check "I agree to the Terms of Service and the retention of my personal data as described in the Privacy Policy".
  • Select Create Wolfram ID.

Activate Mathematica

The next step is to request a unique activation key to activate Mathematica on your device.

  • Fill the "Activation Key Request Form" with your first name, last name, UTD email address, and major.

  • Please select your product, version, and anticipated graduation date, as shown in the image below.
  • Click Submit.

  • The website will take you to a page that will confirm your request and display the email address to which they have sent the activation key.
    • It also provides you with an option to generate another activation key if necessary.

  • While waiting for the email, go to your Wolfram User Profile and select Send verification email.

  • Check your utdallas.edu mailbox for an email with a unique activation key and a link to install the software.
  • Click on the link to download the software.

  • Scroll down to the "Downloads" section and select the correct link as per your computer OS under the "Direct File Download" section.
  • Run the installer on your machine and enter the activation key at prompt.
