Explanation
Below is a list of standard terms used in the Microsoft Bookings, a scheduling application:
- Bookings Calendar: The Bookings Calendar is a web-based service that integrates with the user’s Outlook to optimize the time and effort used for scheduling meetings and enables customers with the flexibility to book a time that works best for both the parties.
- Service: It is an offering or appointment on the Bookings calendar. Services can be 1:1 or many:1, depending on the user’s settings. The responsibility for booking services can also be shared among multiple staff members. See this article for more information and instructions on creating a service: Click here.
- Staff: Individuals eligible to be “booked” for services are added to the Bookings Calendar. (Example: Faculty or TAs for office hours, HR staff for HR appointments)
- Customers: People who interact with the Booking page can schedule an appointment. (Example: Students for office hours, staff for an HR appointment)
- Booking Page: The page where customers can book from a list of available services. This page can be public or restricted to those with a UT Dallas account, depending on your settings in the “Booking Page” section. You can share the booking page through a direct link or embed it on a website.
Note: Bookings are only available for UTD faculty and staff. Students needing access must submit a request with a reasonable explanation for why they need access.
