If you find that your mailbox is a little low on storage space and you need to find a quick fix. Deleting emails from the deleted items folder is a great place to start, as deleted emails do take up storage space while in your deleted folder. Here are the steps to clear out this folder.

Procedure

  1. Open the Outlook Desktop client or Outlook Web Version

  1. Go to the Deleted Items folder.
  2. Right click the Deleted Items folder and select Empty Folder.

  1. You will get a prompt saying that you will permanently delete everything in the folder. Click Yes.
  • This may take a few minutes depending on how many emails are in the folder. 

  1. If you prefer to review emails, you may open the Deleted Items folder, sort messages by size, and delete the largest files first to clear space.
