Introduction
This article contains information on Shared Channel in Teams and instructions on how users can create their first Shared Channel.
What Is a Shared Channel?
- Shared channels in Microsoft Teams create collaboration spaces where you can not only invite people who are not in the team but also external users.
- Only the users who are owners or members of the shared channel can access the channel.
- Only team owners can create shared channels. The team owner who creates the shared channel becomes the channel owner, and the channel inherits labels from the host team i.e., the team where the shared channel is being created.

- To the right of the team name you would like to add the shared channel, select the More options icon (...).
- Select the Add Channel button.
