Military and Veterans Center (MVC) Hicks Memorial Scholarship Fund

What Is It?

The Hicks Memorial Scholarship is a $500 award that can be used for course related expenses such as, but not limited to, fees, books, and equipment that are required for courses at UT Dallas. These items must be required of all students for the course of instruction.

Eligibility Requirements:

To qualify for the Hicks Memorial Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be an honorably discharged U.S. Armed Forces veteran.
  • Be a full-time, degree-seeking students at UT Dallas.
  • Be in good academic standing at UT Dallas.
  • Sign a release form, in accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), allowing UT Dallas to use application material for scholarship purposes.

  • Leadership
  • Work experience
  • Financial need as determined by the FAFSA or financial statement (*among equally qualified applicants, a preference shall be given to students who demonstrate the greatest financial need).

Funding Details:

  • Award Amount: $500
  • Award Basis: Students shall be chosen by a committee duly appointed by the provost in accordance with the award criteria
  • Maximum Lifetime Award: N/A
  • Application Frequency: Students may apply once per long semester (fall/spring)
  • Distribution: Fund will be distributed via the student's university account. Consequently, any outstanding university debts will be deducted prior to the distribution of the award.
