How to Track Time on TDX Projects

Table of Contents

Context

Time tracking in TDX Projects happens at the task level. Each task card within a project's plan includes a Work tab where team members log the hours they spent and a short description of the work performed. Logged hours automatically roll up into the task's actual hours and the plan's overall totals, so managers can compare progress against original estimates.

Note: TeamDynamix tracks all time in hours. To log minutes, enter the fraction of an hour corresponding to that quantity of time. Visit Time Tracking Categories and Conversion Guide Article | Atlas for a time conversion table.

Task Level Time Tracking

Project managers and team members can review total logged time for a plan from the Totals panel on the right side of the plan view.

  • Open TDX Work Management.
  • Click View Applications in the top navigation.
  • Find and open Projects.

Other Ways to Add Time

Logging time from a task card is not the only option. TDX also provides a central Time & Expenses area where you can add time without opening an individual task card.

  • Open TDX Work Management.
  • Click View Applications in the top navigation.
  • Find and open Time & Expenses.
  • Click + Add Time.

  • Select the Time Entry tab that best fits your entry:
    • Use the Project/Workspace tab to log hours directly against an entire project, without tying the time to one specific task.
    • Use the Issue tab to log hours against a specific Issue within a project.
    • Use the Ticket tab to log hours against a ticket associated with the project.
  • Select the appropriate Time Type, enter your hours and a short description for each day.
  • Click Save.
