Reporting Phishing Emails

Context

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) and the Information Security Office (ISO) work diligently to secure and defend UTD against cyber threats, but some will inevitably make their way through. We ask that all users report suspicious emails to help us protect users throughout UTD.

This article outlines the procedure for reporting phishing emails.

Process

There are two ways to report a phishing email. Submissions with either option will be reviewed and responded to by the ISO:

  • Option 1: Forward the email, ideally as an attachment, with a descriptive subject to infosecurity@utdallas.edu.
  • Option 2: Submit a ticket here using the Report Phishing Email Service Offering, ideally attaching a copy of the phishing email to the request.

Clicked or Responded to Phishing Email

If you responded to or clicked a link in a phishing email, please do the following:

  1. Reset your password immediately using the NetID Self-Service Portal.
  2. Report the email using one of the options above.

ISO will review and validate the integrity of your account and follow up if concerns arise.
