Teams Storage Management

If you are near the storage threshold for your team, this article will help ensure your content is maintained, available to viewers, and adheres to accessibility requirements.

Moving Files

  • If you already have your class recordings saved in your team, go to the location the file is saved online.
  • If you are unsure where this is, open up your team files in Teams.

  • Click the three ... and Go to SharePoint.

  • Go to your class recordings and select the files you would like to move over.

  • With the files selected that you would like to move over, then select the three dots and select Move to.

  • Navigate to My files to access your personal OneDrive.

  • Select your Recordings folder within your OneDrive. If you have not created one, click New folder at the top to create one. Once created, select that folder, then Move here.

  • It will take a few moments for this to happen, please wait until this processes. This removes them from the Teams storage, and places them in your OneDrive to free up space in the Team drive.

Sharing Files

  • Go to Office.com and select OneDrive on the left, then My Files.

  • From here go back to your recordings folder (Or just the folder you chose), And select the file(s) you moved, then select the Share button.

  • It is set to be sharable to UT Dallas by default, so you should not need to change the permission settings if sharing with anyone at UTD.  If you need to change this you may do this in settings. Then select Copy link .

  • Finally,  navigate back to your Teams SharePoint where you would create the link on your page by selecting New and then “Link”. You may specify file name, however make sure you copy the link in first.
