Computer Access Requests

Follow the steps below to request access to existing resources.

Note: To create a new resource or update managers of an existing resource, submit a System Requests to Create/Update/Remove IT Resources via PEARL.

Department Resources

  • Log in to PEARL (Portal for Enterprise Access Request Library) formerly eCAT, using your UTD credentials.
  • Select Computer Access under "Access Requests (Existing Users)".

Access Request tab

  • Lookup and select the user needing access > Next.
  • Fill out the required user information.
  • Select your preferred action and type your reason under the "Justification for this Request" text box.

Option to Add or Remove Resources and Justufication text box.

  • Scroll down the page and check the resources that are needed. 
    • When selecting a resource, choose the name of your resource > Next.
Note: If the resource is not populated, or you do not see a text box to add the resource name, add the resource name under the "Other Requests/Comments" text box (located at the bottom of page.)
  • Review your request, select Effective IT Resource Date and Submit.

Other Department Resources

  • Log in to PEARL (Portal for Enterprise Access Request Library) formerly eCAT, using your UTD credentials.
  • Select Computer Access under "Access Requests (Existing Users)".

Access Request tab

  • Lookup and select the user needing access > Next.
  • Fill out the required user information.
  • Select your preferred action and type your reason under the "Justification for this Request" text box.

  • Scroll towards the bottom of the page and select Other Department under "Other Department Resources."
  • Pick the other department and list the resources needing access to.

  • Review your request, select Effective IT Resource Date and Submit.

UTD NetIDs are generally based on an individual's affiliation with the University of Texas at Dallas. However, individuals who are not eligible for a NetID can receive one if sponsored by a current UTD Faculty or Staff member.
The GlobalProtect Virtual Private Network (VPN) provides secure access to restricted University data and resources using an off-campus computer through a secured Internet connection. In order to utilize VPN services, you must first be enrolled in Duo.
PEARL (Portal for Enterprise Access Request Library) is a system used by departments for requesting access for users. It includes an approval workflow for all requests.
