Manage Your Sent Items Folder

Objective

If you find that you are running low on storage in your email. One of the best ways to free up space is to get a handle of the number of emails that are in your sent items folder. Sent items do count to your storage space while in your sent messages folder. Here are just a few ways to better manage your sent items folder.

Using Outlooks “Clean Up” Feature

Note: Newer Outlook doesn’t have the “Clean Up feature” - As in the right click drop down from above, we couldn’t see such option. 

Procedure

Deleting All Emails in Sent Items Folder

When looking for a way to free up space in your email. The sent items folder can be a great place to start. The following steps will show you how to delete everything in the sent items folder.

  1. Open the Outlook Desktop App.
    • If you find that you have more than 500 emails in your "Sent Items" folder, then you will need to open the Web Outlook version instead. This will make sure that you have access to all emails.
  2. Find the Sent Items folder.

  1. Right click on the Sent Items folder and select Delete All.

  1. You will get a prompt that says “Move everything in this folder to your deleted items folder?” Click Yes
