How to Generate Transcriptions in Stream (On SharePoint)

Objective

This article provides instructions on how to generate captions and transcripts for a video in Stream (on SharePoint). Microsoft allows video owners to generate transcript and caption files for videos spoken in 28 different languages and locales. When recording on a Teams call, transcriptions are automatically generated along with the video recording. Additionally, the transcript indicates attendees who join or leave the meeting.

Steps

  1. Go to Stream.office.com
  2. Select the video you would like to generate captions and transcripts.
  3. Click on Transcript on the right panel.

  1. Once the transcript window opens to your left you will also have the option to Download Transcript as a .docx or .vtt file.

  1. When playing the video, you can Sync the Transcript to the video to stay on track.

To Remove a Transcription  automatically click the Transcript and Captions button via Video Settings

1. Toggle transcripts to Off.

Turning on Captions

You can turn captions on or off by toggling the CC icon in the player controls near the bottom-right side of the video.

Turning on Transcripts

You can now display or hide a video's transcript by selecting the Transcript icon on the upper-right side of the video.
