What This Covers

This process explains what you can expect when a new desktop or laptop is set up for you by OIT Onsite Services.

When This Happens

When you are receiving a new device as part of onboarding, a hardware refresh, or an approved replacement.

What Onsite Services Will Do

  1. Review your approved request to confirm your role, device type, and any required software. 
  2. Prepare your device using the University’s standard configuration to ensure security and reliability. 
  3. Install operating system updates, security protections, and required system settings. 
  4. Set up standard applications and any approved rolespecific software. 
  5. Connect the device to required University services such as network access, login services, and email. 
  6. Test the device to confirm it is working properly before delivery. 
  7. Record the device assignment and configuration details in University systems. 
  8. Coordinate delivery or pickup and provide basic guidance to help you get started.
