Duo Hardware Token Authentication

Tags duo NETID

Overview

If you have received a hardware token from the Information Security Office, you can also use it to log in.

  1. Navigate to a Duo protected site (Office.com or Galaxy) and log in using your UTD credentials.
  2. Enter the passcode in the space provided and click Verify

Duo prompt with Token passcode text box.

Troubleshooting

If your Duo hardware token has stopped working, please follow the steps below to "re-sync" the token with the Duo servers.

  1. Navigate to a Duo protected site (Office.com or Galaxy) and log in using your UTD credentials.
  2. When prompted by Duo, enter three consecutive and correct passcodes from your hardware token, in three successive authentication attempts within 5 minutes.
    • The first two authentications will fail.
  3. However, the passcodes will resynchronize and the third authentication should succeed.
Note: The three codes entered must be generated successively by the hardware token.

Duo
Duo is the university two-factor authentication method designed to add a second layer of security to your NetID account. Verifying your identity using a second factor, such as your phone or a security key, prevents anyone but you from logging in, even if they know your password.
