OIT Supported Hardware Specifications

Purpose

The Office of Information Technology supports a wide range of hardware. Listed below are the recommended, and minimum specifications of OIT supported computers. If you need help understanding if your computer meets the minimum specifications, contact the OIT Help Desk.

Explanation

The following are hardware specs for Windows and Mac laptops supported by the OIT staff.

Recommended Windows Specifications

• 10th Generation Intel Processor or newer
• 16 Gigabytes of RAM or higher
• 512 Gigabyte Solid State Drive (SSD)
• 2.0 factory installed TPM

Recommended Mac Specifications

• Apple M1 or 10th Generation Intel Processor or newer
• 16 Gigabytes of RAM or higher
• 512 Gigabyte Solid State Drive (SSD)
• Support for macOS Big Sur

Minimum for OIT Support

Minimum Supported Specifications (Windows/Mac)

• 1 gigahertz (GHz) with at least 2 cores
• 4 Gigabytes of RAM
• 64 Gigabytes Hard Drive
• 1.2 factory installed TPM (Windows only)
