Finding Tech Group
Look up the device Asset number in Active Directory, find the Department, then look it up in Atlas Department List to determine the Tech Group. If you cannot find the asset number or anything else in the Atlas Department List, use Work Info in SailPoint to determine which Tech Group would best fit the assignment (ask Supervisor).
Active Directory Users and Computers
- Get the Asset number of the computer.
- Open Active Directory Users and Computers from the "Start menu".
- Right-click campus.ad.utdallas.edu and select Find.

- Select the Find: drop-down () and click Computers in the new window.
- Input the Asset number in the "Computer name:" field preceded by a * and click Find Now.
- Example: If the asset is 12345, you should input *12345.

- Find the column called Published At.
- If the column does not appear- open the View menu, click Choose columns, and add the column.
- Hover over the Published At field until the tool tip appears.

- Read the tool tip from left to right.
- The first relevant label here is Information Resources.
- Do not assume a particular Tech Group manages a computer just because of the labels in AD.
- Instead, use the following steps to map the labels to a tech group.
- Open the Atlas Dept List and search (Ctrl+F or Command+F).
- If nothing comes up, search for the second-leftmost label, and so on, from left to right.
- Once you get a match, you should see which Tech Group manages the computer.
