How does an international student on OPT (Optional Practical Training) get extended email access?
Details
Students on an F1 visa who have registered and have been accepted for OPT (Optional Practical Training) are automatically added to a list to retain access to their UTD email address until the end of their OPT period.
The account service level for such students will be set to Basic, which allows access to email and Galaxy, but does not allow access to on-campus computers.
If you are on OPT but are not able to log in to email, please contact ISSO to confirm your status is set correctly. ISSO's system feeds to OIT once daily. If your status changes, it can take up to 48 hours to grant access to email again.
OIT cannot grant access to email manually for OPT purposes. All OPT email access is automatic, based on the information received from ISSO.
